When you love something as much as we love pizza, you start to see it all around you. Pizza is depicted in many classic films, and we believe that our Old Colorado City pizza is the perfect accompaniment for a night in. We’ve put together a few of our favorite films that give us a craving for a big slice, and as an avid pizza lover, perhaps these are some of your favorites, too!
Pizza Moments in Some of Our Favorite Films
Home Alone (1990)
Ah, classic sibling rivalry. In this classic holiday film, all Kevin wants is a delicious pizza topped only with cheese, but his brother has other plans. He makes sure that by the time Kevin can eat a single slice, it’s all gone! After finding himself “Home Alone” while his family travels to Paris for Christmas, Kevin seeks his revenge on his brother by ordering himself a big cheesy pizza from Little Nero’s – and using his brother’s cash to pay for it. At last, the pizza he wanted all along, and he doesn’t have to share a single bite.
Spiderman 2 (2004)
Toby Maguire takes the sacred event of pizza delivery to new heights in this action-filled sequel. In order to avoid being fired by his demanding boss, he must somehow deliver eight pizzas 42 blocks away…but he has to make it happen in under eight minutes! Once his bike proves to be useless amid the crowded streets of New York City, he dawns the Spiderman costume and takes to the skies. Leaping from building to building, he encounters a receptionist who refuses to pay for late pizza. If only he wasn’t detained having to rescue those children, he might have made it!
Back to the Future II (1989)
Another great sequel, Back to the Future II (1989) features a scene depicting what life might be like in the super-futuristic year of 2015 (ha!) where food rehydration is the norm. We see a very tiny pizza before it is placed into a special oven, and just seconds after telling the oven what level of rehydration is desired, out comes a full-sized pizza ready to eat. Buon appetito?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
Perhaps we’ve all fantasized about free pizza, but we probably shouldn’t purposely try to delay delivery just to get a free or discounted pie. In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990), Michelangelo and Donatello are seen waiting for their pizza in the sewer just below the manhole cover. As the delivery driver arrives, his confusion about leaving the pizza on the grate causes him to miss the deadline, and he has no choice but to award the two turtles their discount.
Mr. Deeds (2002)
Longfellow Deeds (what a name) actually owns a pizza shop in this popular Adam Sandler comedy. In the beginning, we see what a nice guy he is as the locals come in droves to taste his delicious pizza, and it becomes clear that money isn’t going to change that. Even after inheriting a whopping $40 billion, Deeds continues to serve his customers with a smile and a wink. It just goes to show that you should always have respect for pizza!
